The short version
- We collect what we need to run WOBE: your account, what you upload, and what you watch and interact with.
- We don't sell your personal data, and we don't use third-party advertising or analytics cookies today.
- You can download or permanently delete your data at any time from Settings.
What we collect
When you create an account
Your name, handle and email address, and your password, which we store only as a secure one-way hash. If you add them, your bio, location, website, profile photo and banner.
When you publish
The videos, posters and details you upload (titles, descriptions, tags, genre, visibility). Public work is visible to everyone; private and unlisted work is limited as you choose.
When you watch and interact
Views and watch progress, likes, saves, follows, comments and reports. If you're not logged in, we count views using a random identifier stored in a cookie, so the same person refreshing doesn't count twice.
When you contact us or join a waitlist
Your name, email and message, so we can reply, or your email so we can tell you when WOBE Premium launches.
Technical information
Like every website, our hosting provider receives your IP address and basic request information. We use IP addresses briefly to stop spam and abuse, such as limiting repeated sign-in attempts.
Cookies and local storage
- wobe_session keeps you logged in. It's essential and is removed when you log out.
- wobe_vk is a random identifier for logged-out viewers, used only to count views fairly.
- Your browser also stores a few preferences on your own device, like recent searches, player volume and upload progress.
We don't use advertising or third-party analytics cookies today. Before ads launch on WOBE, we'll update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
How we use it
- To run WOBE: accounts, uploads, playback, comments and notifications.
- To recommend things you'll like: For You uses what you watch, like, save and follow.
- To count views and calculate creator payouts, which depend on each creator's share of all views.
- To keep WOBE safe: reviewing reports, enforcing the community guidelines and preventing fraud, including fake views.
- To reply to you and send the updates you asked for.
Who processes your data
We use a small number of providers to run WOBE, and only for that purpose:
- Vercel hosts the website and stores uploaded videos and images.
- Turso hosts our database.
- Cloudflare provides our domain's DNS.
Our servers are in the United States. We'll also share information if the law requires it, or to protect people from harm.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, your profile, uploads and activity are deleted straight away, and any remaining copies in backups expire on their normal schedule. Anonymous view counts on other creators' videos stay as totals.
Your rights and choices
- See and download your data: Settings → Download my data.
- Correct your details: Settings.
- Delete your account and data: Settings → Delete account.
- Ask us anything, or object to how we use your data: send a privacy request.
If you're in the EU, the UK or another region with data protection laws, you have these rights by law, and you can also complain to your local data protection authority (in Sweden, that's IMY).
Age
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age in your country if it's higher, to create an account.
Changes
When we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top, and tell you in the product if the change is significant.
